Car theft gang stole £300K of cars across Yorkshire

A criminal gang who stole high-value cars after arranging test drives around Yorkshire have been sentenced at Leeds Crown Court.
Vehicles worth nearly £300,000 were stolen during the operation which targeted both dealers and private sellers ranging from Huddersfield to Holmfirth and from York to Doncaster. Many of the 23 cars taken were quickly stripped down and only three were recovered.
The thieves would arrange for test drives in secluded areas and then make off in them after using a variety of methods to distract salesman or the owners.
They were caught after a big police probe called Operation Trimgill, led by detectives from Kirklees.
